On 2nd November, we had the opportunity to co-host a tour of Bradford with Coops UK and Power To Change for the people involved with the Empowering Places programme to showcase the Community Businesses we have supported in Manningham.
We kicked off our tour by taking separate groups to 4 community businesses:
- Bread and Roses Cafe & Co-working Space
- Sunnah Sports Academy & International Mixed Ability Sports
- Wibsey Community Garden
- Mary Magdelene CIC
This was a great chance for catalyst organisations from around the UK to experience the amazing work happening in Manningham and Bradford and how we have supported community businesses to develop. Each group was shown around the different spaces and given inspiration talks from the people who founded each community business.
On the same day, we invited everyone to our base at Manningham Mills Community Centre to explore our new Community Business Hub. We also delivered a range of sessions for the group to learn more about the work we’ve done such as Enterprise Coaching and a discussion by Equality Together about their community shop.
The following day, we all attended various workshops, organised by Power To Change and Coops UK. They included ‘Peer Group Coaching’, Developing a Marketing Strategy’, ‘Harnessing enterprise to re-make a place’ and ‘Unleashing the potential of young people’.
We had a great time showing everyone around Manningham and learning more valuable information from organisations from around the UK.
